Job Requirements

• HND/B.Sc. degree in Social Sciences, Humanities, or a related field.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in publishing, academic editing, or a related industry.

• Deep understanding of social science concepts, terminology, and academic standards.

• Strong editing and proofreading skills with excellent knowledge of grammar, and editorial best practices.

• Proven ability to manage multiple manuscripts and meet tight deadlines.

• High attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with diverse authors and contributors.

• Experience verifying qualitative data, sources, and case references.

• Familiarity with current trends in social science research and publishing.

• Proficiency with editing and word processing tools such as MS Word and Adobe Acrobat.

Key Responsibilities

• Edit and proofread manuscripts in sociology, political science, economics, education, and related fields.

• Ensure consistency with editorial guidelines and academic integrity standards.

• Provide feedback to authors on structure, clarity, and argumentation.

• Cross-reference sources and verify qualitative research citations.

• Collaborate with authors, peer reviewers, and production teams to ensure quality and timely publication.

• Suggest improvements to enhance content accessibility and reader engagement.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of social science discourse and terminology.

• Oversee publishing timelines, production quotes, and the annual India reprint cycle.

• Coordinate management of UBEC title files and other documentation.

• Contribute to the ongoing refinement of editorial practices for social science publications.
