Our client, a reputable leader in the Agricultural sector, is looking to recruit a skilled Laboratory Chemist.

Key Requirements

• B.Sc. or HND in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of laboratory experience in a manufacturing, distillery, or ETP setting.
• Must be familiar with standard lab equipment (pH meter, spectrophotometer, titration kits, COD/BOD analyzers, etc.)
• Proficient in performing water, effluent, and ethanol/alcohol quality testing.
• Basic understanding of process chemistry related to fermentation, distillation, and effluent treatment.
• Strong analytical and documentation skills.
• Ability to work in shift-based environments.
• Familiarity with quality control systems and regulatory standards.
• High attention to detail and commitment to safety and hygiene.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine testing of raw materials, process intermediates, and final products (e.g., ethanol, water, sludge, mash) to ensure quality standards are met.
• Analyze effluent samples for COD, BOD, TSS, pH, and other critical parameters to support ETP compliance.
• Carry out alcohol strength and purity analysis to support distillation efficiency.
• Provide real-time feedback to plant operators and Shift Incharge on quality issues or deviations.
• Maintain accurate records of all test results, calibration logs, and daily lab activities.
• Conduct sampling and quality checks in accordance with SOPs and regulatory guidelines.
• Assist in calibrating and maintaining laboratory equipment.
• Support internal audits and inspections related to safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Report anomalies or off-spec results immediately and collaborate on corrective actions.
• Uphold lab safety practices, proper chemical handling, and personal hygiene standards at all times.
